Terms and Conditions
We aim that you will have an amazing time with North Scotland Hikes. Here are our terms and conditions.
1 Booking & Payment
100% payment is encouraged at the time of booking. We will also accept a 30% deposit at the time of booking to reserve your guided walk/adventure. The balance of the price must be paid 4 weeks before the start of your walk/ adventure. If you book within 4 weeks of your event then you must pay the full amount at the time of your booking. If the balance is not paid in time we reserve the right to cancel your event and retain the appropriate amount of your deposit as detailed at point 2 below.
2. If you cancel your booking
- All events incur a 10% non-refundable booking fee
- If you cancel between 7 and 14 days before your event you will incur a 50% charge
- If you cancel 7 days or less before your event you will incur a 100% charge
- If you cancel with less than 15 days notice we will make our best effort to resell your booking and give you a 90% refund although this can’t be guaranteed.
3. If North Scotland hikes cancels your event
We hope that this is extremely unlikely to happen but if it does we will offer you a full refund or an alternative date.
4 Under 18s
Under 18s are welcome to our walks/adventures but they must be accompanied by their parent or adult guardian who must take full responsibility for the young person.
5 Personal Insurance
North Scotland hikes are fully insured as your guides. We recommend that you consider buying personal insurance to cover your trip.
6 Responsibility
You must be fully aware of and accepting of the following participation statement from Mountaineering Scotland: “climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement”
It is your duty to inform your guide if you are uncomfortable with continuing on your event or if you are not physically or mentally capable of continuing. By continuing with your event you accept responsibility for the risks as per the Mountaineering Scotland statement in the preceding paragraph.
All clients must complete fully and honestly our participant form to explain to us any medical conditions you have and to advise us that you are physically capable of participating in the event that you have booked. By filling in the participant form you are agreeing that we may pass these personal details to the emergency services in the event of an emergency. Your are also agreeing that you details on the participant form will be given to our base camp officer for the duration of the event.
7. Changes to your event
We reserve the right to alter your event depending on the weather and ground conditions. We will do this to maximise your safety and enjoyment of your walk/adventure.
We also reserve the right to alter your event if there are any accidents or emergencies within your group (including the guide).
We reserve the right to alter your event due to other external influences. Examples of this may include: tree felling in the area; military operations in the area; or the area being closed by government authorities.
8. Rights of admission
We reserve the right to refuse a booking or to bar a person from a trip in the event of conduct which in our reasonable opinion is likely to cause distress to others. This includes any participant who fails to advise us of a medical condition or disability which prevents their full participation in an event. Cancellation charges of 100% would apply in these circumstances.
9. Kit List
You must wear and carry everything in our recommended kit list.
10. Personal Information
After your event we will destroy/delete all of your personal information unless you agree otherwise.
11. Variations
We reserve the right to update these terms from time to time without notice to you. We recommend you regularly revisit this page to ensure you have seen and are aware of our latest terms.
